Sustainability

Sustainability and eco-friendly are phrases thrown around by every swimwear brand these days. Let us take you through our steps which sets us apart from everyone else.Ā

Our fabrics

Did you know that the majority of cheaper brands use Econyl fabrics in their swimsuits? No thanks! Our research showed that RepreveĀ® is a far superior fabric in every department. Especially when it comes to being eco-friendly.Ā

Repreve Ā® is a US-based company that is the world’s leading manufacturer of recycled performance fibre. Every single thread of Repreve fabric can be traced back to its source of origin. Making Repreve the only certifiable and traceable eco-performance polyester in the whole world!Ā

That’s right, you can actually verify every single one of our products back to its recycled material origin. Impressive right? We’re not done!

Repreve is used by major brands such as Patagonia, Nike and Beyond Yoga and is widely recognised as the leading sustainable fabric manufacturer in the world.Ā

Compared to other fabric manufacturers, we discovered that Reprieve was noticeably softer on the skin. Giving you that luxurious feel every time you wear one of our bikinis.

Our printing techniques

We’ve yet to see a swimwear brand discuss their printing techniques in terms of eco-friendly, here’s why:

Did you know that the majority of brands use dye sublimation printing? Basically heat pressing coloured dyes onto fabric to create their prints. Did you know that during the dye printing process for swimwear, a huge amount of waste product is created?

The heat and compression on the fabric produce tiny fractures in the threads, which creates microplastics as a waste product. This harmful waste then eventually leads to our oceans and destroys marine biology. What’s sad is that most brands are completely unaware of this fact.Ā

All of our prints are digitally printed onto the fabric using water-based inks. This results in little to no fractures in the thread and as a result microplastics are eliminated from our production process. It’s a more expensive process overall, but we think it’s worth it!

Packaging

Last but not least our quality! Every single detail has been attended to. From ensuring the highest quality fabrics, the perfect fit or our sustainable printing techniques, no expense has been spared and it never will be. Rest assured you will embark on a journey where our bikinis will become your must-haves.Ā

Here’s a list of some of the processes when making and shipping the branded carry bags:

  1. Fibres are extracted from natural materials
  2. The natural materials such as hemp etc are then replanted
  3. The fibres are processed in a factory to make fabric
  4. The fabric is then treated to make it safe
  5. The fabric is then sent to another factory to be made into bags
  6. The bags will then be sent to your brand

The brand will then send the bag to you as free gift claiming how eco-friendly they are. How ironic!

We’ve done away with the cheap branded bags and pouches like what other brands may send you. Let’s be honest, do you ever use those gift pouches or bags? We would venture a guess and say probably not.Ā

You will receive your bikini packed in a completely biodegradable, unbranded sleeve and that’s it. So now we have contributed to the preservation of the environment, together.Ā

Summary

We actually care for the environment and our oceans. What good is a bikini if you can’t go rock it on a pristine beach and swim in our beautiful oceans? So ladies next time a brand is talking about their fabrics being made from recycled bottles, you really have to ask is that it!Ā
